Day Trip to Naoshima
This day was one of my favorites from the trip. Spending time exploring the island and visiting two museums felt both relaxing and fun.
The first museum, the Benesse House Museum, was a fascinating experience. The concept of Ma was very present throughout, emphasizing the simplicity of the art and the thoughtful use of materials. The use of reflective elements like glass was especially inspiring and something I want to incorporate in my future designs.
Next, we visited Yayoi Kusama’s Narcissus Garden. Although it was a small installation, it was intriguing to see how the steel balls were arranged and made a strong visual impact.
Lastly, we visited the Chichu Art Museum. While I wasn’t able to take any photos there, that actually made the experience feel more special, and it was something that can only truly be appreciated in person.
FOOD: Since the food options were limited, we chose to eat at the restaurant inside Bennesse House Museum. I got the creamy lemon pasta with prosciutto, which was really good, and the view from the restaurant made the experience even better.
