Day Trip to Hiroshima

We started our day early in Miyajima to visit the Itsukushima Shrine during high tide. I enjoyed walking around the island and seeing the beautiful ocean surrounding the shrine.

After Miyajima, we visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. The museum was deeply moving and heartbreaking but also inspiring. It showed how landscape architecture can have a powerful impact by commemorating history and honoring those affected.

FOOD: In Miyajima, we got lunch at a restaurant called Okimitsu, and got Unagi Don, which is rice topped with eel fillets covered in sweetened stoy-based sauce. Knowing we were surrounded by the ocean, I thought it would be the best time to eat seafood, and it did not disappoint. The fish with sweet sauce and the rice made it a perfect combination.
